IBM Connections Docs 2.0 CR3 Release Notes

Überblick
IBM® Docs ist eine webbasierte Online-Office-Produktivitätssuite mit Social-Networking-Funktionen. Damit können Arbeitsgruppen Dokumente effizienter erstellen, gemeinsam benutzen, bearbeiten und überprüfen. Man kann sich IBM Docs wie eine „Pen-and-Paper“-Funktion für Online-Gruppen vorstellen. Arbeitsgruppen können Textverarbeitungsdokumente, Tabellenkalkulationen und Präsentationen gemeinsam nutzen, erstellen, bearbeiten und überprüfen. Einzelpersonen können je nach Anforderung auch für sich allein arbeiten. IBM Docs verfügt jedoch über kein eigenes Ablagesystem. Es ist stattdessen auf ein bestehendes Datei-Repository ( IBM Connections) angewiesen. IBM Docs steigert die Produktivität durch vereinfachtes Teamwork und trägt zur Kostensenkung bei, da die Benutzer in geringerem Maße auf Desktop-Software angewiesen sind.
IBM Docs lässt sich in IBM Connections V4.5 integrieren und unterstützt Dateiformate von Microsoft™ Office und OpenOffice. Mit IBM Docs V1.0.5 können Sie Dokumente über die IBM Connections Mobile App V4.4 direkt vom Apple iPad gemeinsam bearbeiten. Zudem können Sie Ihr iPad an einen Projektor anschließen und eine Diashow im Vollbildmodus vorführen, während Sie Ihre Folien und Sprechernotizen, einen Timer sowie ein Kommentartool im Dual-Screen-Modus betrachten.

Neuerungen von IBM Docs V1.0.5:
Bei Anwendungsfällen, die eine Kollaboration in Echtzeit erfordern, bietet IBM Docs mehrere Editoren, die eine gleichzeitige Bearbeitung desselben Dokuments ermöglichen. Damit Ihre Mitarbeiter ein Dokument zu unterschiedlichen Zeitpunkten bearbeiten können, bietet IBM Docs Kommentar- und Diskussionsfunktionen, sodass kontextbasiert diskutiert werden kann. Kommentare werden im Text-, Tabellen- oder Präsentationsdokument verankert, um die Navigation zum Kontext des Kommentars zu vereinfachen. Kommentare können allgemeiner Art oder an einzelne Benutzer gerichtet sein (@userid). IBM Docs bietet Benutzern die Möglichkeit, Kommentare nach Autor und Empfänger zu filtern.
Außerdem nutzt IBM Docs die Dateiverwaltungsfunktionen von IBM Connections Files, damit Benutzer Dokumente hochladen und gemeinsam nutzen sowie Versionen verwalten können. So können Benutzer stets mit der aktuellsten Version arbeiten oder bei Bedarf eine frühere Version wiederherstellen. Darüber hinaus ermöglicht IBM Docs den Benutzern, Online-Dokumente mit anderen Personen als Leser oder Bearbeiter gemeinsam zu verwenden. Bearbeiter haben die volle Berechtigung, das Dokument mit anderen Bearbeitern zu verändern. Leser haben die Möglichkeit, stets die aktuellste Version eines Dokuments anzuzeigen. IBM Docs greift auch auf die Funktionen von IBM Communities zurück, damit sich Dokumente, wie z. B. Microsoft Office-Dokumentvorlagen, im Kontext dieser Community verwenden und bearbeiten lassen.
IBM Docs kann als Add-on für Kunden von IBM Connections 4.5x erworben werden. IBM Docs kann zudem von Kunden von IBM Notes®, Domino® und Portal erworben werden, die über eine Berechtigung für Connections Files verfügen.
Um den Implementierungsprozess von IBM Docs in Ihrem Unternehmen zu vereinfachen (oder zu unterstützen), können Sie die Services auch über IBM oder einen offiziellen IBM Vertriebspartner erwerben.

IBM has launched a cloud-based office-productivity suite called SmartCloud Docs that some industry observers say is a competitor to Google Drive (nee Google Docs).
But the comparison is apples to oranges. OK, well maybe Fuji to Granny Smith. ...
While Google Drive started with consumers and gradually became a business product, IBM’s focus here is the enterprise.
SmartCloud Docs is only a small piece of the company's corporate collaboration services, called SmartCloud for Social Business. SmartCloud Docs adds the ability to create documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
"If customers, the press, or analysts position this as going toe-to-toe with Google Docs, or frankly, for that matter, parts of [Microsoft] Office 365, they're missing the fundamental differences between the vendors," Tom Austin, an analyst for Gartner, says. "IBM is into solution-selling."
That means IBM’s quarry isn't a department head or branch office. It wants to sell Social Business to the whole organization to tackle a core business operation. ..
Unlike research rival Gartner, International Data Corp. sees Google and IBM as competitors, but says IBM has taken its product a step further when it comes to helping people work together.
For example, SmartCloud Docs can analyze versions of a document and help authors reconcile the differences, said IDC analyst Melissa Webster.
"That's a new level of functionality” in that feature segment, said Webster.
Before SmartCloud Docs, such features were primarily used for code-management, helping developers reconcile code. "It's a sophisticated problem to solve," she said.
Enterprise features like these set IBM apart; that and its focus on comprehensive technology packages.
