Doch sieht Dion uns erstmals auf dem Weg zu einem holistischen Blick auf den Arbeitsplatz: IT, HR und alle anderen Abteilungen müssen zusammenarbeiten, modernste Technologien eingesetzt werden, um die best mögliche Arbeitsplatzerfahrung unabhängig von der Lokation zu erlauben.
Und er referenziert dabei in seinem Beitrag auf die aktuelle Umfrage State of Remote Work von Buffer und AngelList!. Weltweit wurden hier über 3.500 Personen befragt. Bezüglich der größten Vor- und Nachteile von Remote Work und Homeoffice kam es zu folgenden Antworten:
Vor allem werden flexible Zeiteinteilung und flexible Arbeitsplätze und -umgebungen geschätzt – und dass man nicht zur Arbeit fahren muss. Als problematisch sehen die Befragten Zusammenarbeit und Kommunikation an. Danach kommen gefühlte Einsamkeit, die Unfähigkeit von der Arbeit los zu lassen und Störungen in der heimischen Wohnung. Diese menschlichen, emotionalen und organisatorischen Schmerzen dominieren in der Summe im Vergleich zu technischen Aspekten oder Werkzeugen. Dies sollte man also bei der Gestaltung von Homeoffice und Remote Work im Blick behalten.
Genau darauf hebt auch die Umfrage von Insead Knowledge ab: Technologie bekommt man in den Griff, aber die organsatorischen Aspekte sind die Herausforderung.
Bear in mind, your employees may not have access to effective work space and freedom from distractions at home.
Social isolation is a concern and should be combated: Push for some online socialising even if it feels unnatural initially. Occasional video calls with no specific agenda and online gaming are two options to consider. At the same time, it is important to respect boundaries: work without an office does not translate to unlimited working hours. There must be clear “off” times when employees should not feel obligated to respond to chat/mail/calls.
What Newly Remote Teams Need, Right Now | INSEAD Knowledge
Gerade im Homeoffice sei der Respekt davor wichtig, dass auch mal Schluss mit der Arbeit ist, auch wenn man technisch endlos weitermachen könnte. Pausen müssen sein, Offline muss sein und definierte, feste Büro- beziehungsweise Antwort- und Kommunikationszeiten sollten bei aller flexiblen Zeiteinteilung eingehalten werden, so die Autoren.
Sie empfehlen auch, bewusst auch soziale Aktivitäten online durchzuführen, das virtuelle Treffen in der Kaffeeküche, der Anruf, um einfach mal zu fragen, wie es geht, oder um ein Schwätzchen zu halten. Selbst ein gemeinsames Spielchen wird vorgeschlagen.
Microsoft-Chef Satya Nadella vermisst genau dieses Schwätzchen, den Small Talk nach einem Treffen und befürchtet, dass man bei einem totalen Wechsel zu Remote Work wertvolles soziales Kapital verbrenne. Er scheint nicht der einzige zu sein, der befürchtet, dass die Bindung im Team und zum Unternehmen abnehmen, eine negative Grundhaltung Einzug halten könnte:

Daniel Z. Levin und Terri R. Kurtzberg fordern auf MIT Sloan gerade vom Management, Kommunikation, Netzwerke und positive Haltung aktiv zu unterstützen und zu fördern, um eine positive Stimmung und Haltung zu verbreiten.
Und wie ist die allgemeine Stimmung in den USA bezüglich Homeoffice? Wird Remote Work das „new Normal“? Laut Artikel von David Roe, der einige Manager befragte, wird es eher zu flexiblen Modellen kommen, also eher selten 100 Prozent Homeoffice realisiert werden. Microsoft-Chef Satya Nadella warnt davor das Dogma Präsenz im Büro mit dem anderen Dogma Homeoffice zu ersetzen. Microsoft will Mitarbeiter ab etwa Oktober wieder in die Büros schicken, so entsprechende Berichte.
Vieles deutet darauf hin, dass auch in den USA oder von US-amerikanischen Unternehmen künftig hybride Arbeitsplatzmodelle favorisiert werden, gerade um die viel ziterten Talente gewinnen zu können, wie auch die Analysten von Gartner betonen. Sie gehen auf jeden Fall von einem deutlich höheren Anteil von Remote Work nach der Pandemie aus. Laut Gartner steigt der Anteil der remote arbeitenden Angestellten von 30 auf 48 Prozent nach der Krise.
Zudem ist das Verhältnis von Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit und Remote Work wohl vielschichtig. So stellt Gallup – bekannt für die Studien zur Mitarbeiterzufriedenheit – fest, dass im Sinne eines hohen Engagements der Mitarbeiter zumindest die Option für Homeoffice gegeben sein sollte:
Those with some remote work options have the highest employee engagement, while those with no remote option and those who work remotely 100% of the time have somewhat lower employee engagement.

Interessant die von Gallup genannten unterschiedliche Haltungen zu Remote Work je nach Profession und Branche:
Gallup research finds the percentages that prefer continuing to work from home are highest in technology, insurance, arts, entertainment, media, finance and professional services. Those with lower preference to work from home in the future include education, retail, transportation and construction.

E-Commerce, Online-Handel gilt als Gewinner in der Corona-Krise, wobei man sich das Bild natürlich genauer anschauen muss, denn ganz offensichtlich haben einige Branchen mit sehr großen Problemen zu kämpfen.
Als Marketer stellt sich natürlich nicht nur die Frage, wie man Präsenzveranstaltungen, klassische Events „ersetzen“ kann. Auch müssen wir natürlich bewerten, welche Kommunikationskanäle denn noch funktionieren beziehungsweise zu Conversions führen. Timo von Focht zieht folgende Zwischenbilanz:
Betrachtet man die Kommunikationskanäle in der Krisenzeit, dann zählen zu den großen Verlierern besonders E-Mail und Social Media: Die Conversions gingen dort um 70 bis 80 Prozent zurück. Kein Wunder: Social Media wird vom Thema Corona beherrscht, und Werbemails gehen leichter unter in dieser Zeit. Die Branche muss sich auf andere Strategien besinnen. Im Retargeting gab es 76 Prozent weniger Conversions. …
… Zu den klaren Gewinnern der Krise gehört der SEA-Kanal. Hier blieben die Rückgänge unter 50 Prozent – bei gleichzeitig 30 Prozent höheren Konversionsraten. Wer jetzt gerade Kampagnen fährt, sollte sich genau anschauen, wie die einzelnen Kanäle performen und eventuell Budgets anders verteilen. Grundsätzlich gilt: E-Commerce rettet in vielen Branchen zumindest einen Teil der Umsätze, Tendenz steigend. Es ist wieder Licht am Ende des Tunnels erkennbar – und Kurzarbeit gibt es im E-Commerce auch nicht.

While you can still use your Notes client to access your Domino apps, apps can now be written for web browsers. Existing apps can be modified to run on a browser, and new apps can be written for browser access. The example you see here is an internal app we use for order processing written for the web and is used daily by our sales team.
As much as we love and appreciate our Domino developers and administrators fluent in LotusScript and XPages, we want to open organization up to a much broader range of skills and talent and future proof your investment.
Now, any JavaScript developer can enhance, integrate and build new applications that include data and processes from Domino — without rewriting from scratch. This example here is a tracker application built with a web UI written in React – complete with cool filter sets.
HCL Domino v11 is the most open version of the platform yet. Our integrations enable enterprises to more fully leverage Domino with other tools and applications across their business.
Here we show a couple of integrations we’ve enabled. On the left, you see an integration between our internal sales app with our CRM system that enables real-time data verification. On the right, we’ve integrated an app with Slack to provide instant notifications within a channel. Within Slack, a user is able to directly approve or reject a proposal submission which then advances the document according to the workflow set in our app.
Domino apps are rock–solid and reliable. Which is probably why most of our customers haven’t thought about redesigning their apps or assume that Domino doesn’t provide the flexibility to do so.
Here are several examples of how we modernized an app to today’s design standards. We also recently wrote a blog post about it. We not only gave a complex, business-critical app a face lift, but made it work on mobile devices.
